Our Story

El Maguey Mexican Restaurant was built on family, tradition, and a deep love for authentic Mexican cooking. Owned and operated by Raquel Moran, the restaurant reflects more than a decade of passion, dedication, and hands-on experience. Inspired by her upbringing, Raquel learned the ins and outs of the restaurant industry from her mother, who successfully owned and operated three Mexican restaurants in Chicago. Growing up immersed in the rich sights, aromas, and flavors of traditional kitchens, Raquel developed a lifelong appreciation for homestyle recipes crafted with care, intention, and high-quality ingredients.

For over 12 years, El Maguey has proudly served the Bowling Green, KY community, becoming a trusted destination for fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine. What began as a local passion project has grown into something much larger, with additional locations now serving guests in Brooks and Salem, Indiana. Despite this growth, El Maguey has remained true to its roots—preserving family traditions while continuing to expand its reach and share its flavors with new communities.

Every dish at El Maguey is thoughtfully prepared with a focus on bold flavor and quality. Whenever possible, ingredients are locally sourced to ensure freshness and to support surrounding communities. Was in town for the Tri 5 nationals and was staying at the hotel next store. Our group decided to walk over and give it a try as we all love Mexican food. It was a very good choice as the service was excellent and the food was great! The proportions were over the top, we all left full and then some. I cant wait to go back when in town for the GS nations and again for the Ttri 5's. Highly recommend!
